Phase 1 Complete

Phase 1 of the Jones Bed & Breakfast has been completed LOL. My neice and sister just left after being here since Friday the 28th. Was a really nice visit - the kids always really enjoy spending time with their cousin Serene. I helped my sister get a start on her website and change her Rapid Eye directory listing. Pretty layed back visit - just enjoyed spending time together.

Serene asked for Rattle Snake Pasta - which she loves and always asks for when we visit her or she visits us. So I made it - it might not have been as good as when Uncle Mitch makes it - but it was still alright.

Now on to Phase 2 - gonna change & wash the sheets on the air matress before my MIL gets here in a few hours.

New Refrigerator

When we bought this house 7 years ago - we hated the refrigerator that was in it. We said that as soon as it died, we'd replace it. Well -we've had to replace the stove, the dishwasher and the washing machine - but the darn refrigerator just keeps ticking along. The seal on the freezer was starting to go - so DH said - just buy a new one! He didn't have to tell me twice - they came and delivered and set it up today and hauled the old one away! Woohoo!!

Emma is most impressed by the fact that this one has an inside light that works. She said she'd be able to see to get her midnight snack!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Went to Brett & Emma's PTC's today. Both of them were really easy - and basically a waste of time. Both doing well, well adjusted friendly kiddos - hope they keep up the good work.

The teenager on the other hand is a different story all together. I'm putting off looking at that report card.

The things you see at school today

I volunteered at the elementary school today, and we were set up in an area across from the boys bathroom. It doesn't have a door going into it, it has a large opening where a sink is and the garbage can - and you turn the corner to go into the actual bathroom.

Well I'm standing there - minding my own business - and I look and see

NAKED BUTT. I'm not talking like a 2nd grader either - this was like a 5th grader.

I started laughing - thinking "Dude turn the corner before you pull your pants down!!"

Lifestyle Change

Well, I've been overweight for a good while now - and before it really begins to long term affect my health - I'm going to do something to change my lifestyle. My wonderful boss Maggie, went to talk with Dr. Leslie - the author of Getting Into Your Pants. Maggie went on the 10+10 for life program and in 1 month has lost 13 pounds. She doesn't feel deprived, has noticed that her energy level is higher and is already fitting into pants that she couldn't last month! Her BMI dropped 2 points also! So, I am going to try the program also - you can read more about it here ! Wish me luck!

Another Emma Funny

I painted Emma's fingernails green for St. Patricks day - and put some cute little nail art stickers on them. Well, she kept picking at her nails and taking the polish off. So yesteday, I said something to her about it - and her response was that she didn't want her nail polish on anymore
because it wasn't like she needed to be any more pretty than she already is
and nail polish is just to make you pretty!!

Oy vey!!

I Love Technology!

Mitch went and bought his laptop with the built in webcam, and I set up my webcam and thanks to the wonderful technology of video call with MSN - we could talk to each other, see each other and best of all it was free!!

Woohoo!! Only bad part was neither of us wanted to hang up!

Emma is a hoot!

Emma is Star Student of the Week next week in school and her teacher sent home these little stars with sentence starters on them for Emma to fill out with stuff on them like
My Name is...
My birthday is...
I am proud of myself for...
My goal for the future is...
my favorite thing about school is...
and Something I like about myself is... and her answer was:  I scrapbook, and how cute I am.

Letterboxing

Has anyone had any experience with Letterboxing? I've volunteered to do 2 boxes for the fundraiser for my son's classroom and I'm flying blind LOL. Making up clues in not going to be easy - LOL. And figuring out where to put them that they won't be disturbed is gonna be hard too - cause there are alot of them that have gone missing on the letterboxing site.

If you haven't heard of it www.letterboxing.org for more info

Yikes!

Okay, as you know DH is in Bahrain. And I just learned something - before you call international - double check the rates - LOL. Stupid me assumed (and yes I did make an ass out of myself) that it was probably around $2 a minute or so.

WRONG. Try $4.15 per minute. How outrageous is that. I'm glad I only made 5 phone calls total before getting a calling card - and that we didn't talk too long - but still its almost $300 more on the ole phone bill this month.

And how stupid is it that you can get a calling card that will let you call for 33 cents per minute. How can the difference be that much??
