Where the heck did the time go?

Sheesh, been forever and a day since I posted. I really just haven't been on the computer much at all lately, and haven't scrapped either.

I will be trying to scrap for NSD and one of my favorite places to hang out on the net is having a crop - they are always fun - and will hopefully help me get my mojo back.

A Bit O' Scrappin!!

I reached my scrappy goal for this month - of 5 layouts. It's nice to not be rushing to finish up on the last day - hope I can keep that up! Here is my 5th layout for the month. It is using a sketch by Anam for a contest over at ScrapAttack Scrapbooking.

Some "me" time

With Mitch home taking care of cooking, and alot of the housework and entertaining of the kids - I was able to spend some time at my scrapbook table working on more challenges for Fun Month at Scrap Attack. I squeaked in the last of the layouts that I needed to make my goal of 5 for the month.

Fun Month Begins

I'm trying really hard to keep up with my goal of 5 layouts per month and with that intent - I'm participating in some challenges for the Fun Month at Scrap Attack . Yesterday was the first day of fun month - and I got one layout done.

Paula & I took the kids bowling. I'd forgotten what a workout bowling can be ~ especially when your shoes stick and the only ball with big enough finger holes is a 14 pounder! Mai Ly bowled better than the rest of us and Brett used his Yabba Dabba Do technique

I scrapped

Amazingly enough - I finally got some scrapping done this year. I have turned into the biggest procrastinator - and I hate that about myself - but it is what it is. Here are the results of my scrappin-fest yesterday - thanks Jen for hanging out with me via IM and cheering me on.

30 in 30 Layout Challenge

Jen came up with this awesome challenge to play during September at Scrap Shanty

Anyone interested in a little challenge? There are 30 days in September and I know I am in the need for a little push to get a bunch of layouts done. Back in January some of us did the Big Picture Scrapbooking's Layout a Day challenge and they didn't have specific challenges besides doing ONE LAYOUT A DAY!!

Who wants to try it? Starting tomorrow I will post a thread and just post your layout in the gallery and then link it in the thread. No prizes here just bragging rights for the month of October!!!

Come on fellow scrappers -- let's get scrappin!!

Jen

and I made the blinkie. Hope you play along with us - and feel free to use the blinkie!!

We've been so busy with football, cheer and getting ready for school that I just haven't had a chance to be creative. I was playing in the SOSL Challenge at Scrap Love and I wasn't able to get my Week #4 challenge finished - so I've had to drop out - but they gave us a Second Chance contest so I had to finish the missed challenge and get my other challenges in on time. 2 companies that ROCK!!

Glue Arts - Tina from Glue Arts is so fantastic - she comes to Scrap Shanty to answer adhesive questions - they gave us a ton of awesome product to give away and as sponsor stuff. And now, she has sent us samples of their new WallArt Adhesive stuff. This is what Tina said about it

WallArt Adhesive, this product comes in 12x12 sheets and 5x5 sheets. You can coat the back of your paper, put it sticky side down on the pad and run through your Cricut. This adhesive allows you to put your die cuts on the Walls, Glass, Mirrors, Wood or Paper. The 12x12 Sheets are packaged 4 sheets and MSRP is $8.99, the 5x5 sheets are packaged 10 to a pack and MSRP is $6.99

I can't wait to try it out.

Making Memories
I bought an MM Paper Trimmer awhile back - and the little red piece broke off of it. One email to MM - and they sent me a replacement part - and some goodies for my time! Your customer service rocks MM!!

Seems to me that customer service is a dying art these days, these 2 companies haven't lost it though! So, share with me some customer service stories - good or bad!

SOSL Week 3

Here is what I came up with for Week 3 of the SOSL challenge at Scrap Love. Somebody should have stopped me before I got the stickles out I think. Sigh. Oh well - I still like the overall design of it - and I put a lot of thought and planning into it. I know I'll never be chosen in the Top 3 during any week of voting - there is amazing talent in the contest - but it is fun to stretch my scrapping abilities anyway.

Oy-Vey!

The challenges for the forth and final Week 4 of the Ultimate Recipe Showdown at Scrap Shanty - and Week 3 of the Summer of Scrap Lovin' Contest at Scrap Love - are TOUGH!

For the Ultimate Recipe Showdown this weeks challenge is:

1. first, you must use a sketch!

2. secondly, your LO must include journaling. the journaling must be more than just the facts (who/what/where) AND must be visible.

3. now for the fun part you must use the 5 numbers in your zipcode to determine the number of photos, embellishments, patterned papers, words in your title, etc. anything goes, as long as you have something for each number. (if you have a 0 you must use at least 1 of something.)
for instance, the numbers in my zip are: 44567 so i might do 4 photos, 4 buttons, 5 journaling strips, 6 rhinestones and 7 words in my title. make sense? if you have any questions, please ask! i'd hate for someone to be disqualified for a silly reason on the very last round
4. lastly, your LO must have something to do with where you live. this is very broad....it can be your house, town, state, country, your christmas decorations, your garden, your favorite piece of art, the color of your toothbrush, whatever. again, please ask if you're unsure!

and for SOSL Week 3

1) Your layout must be created primarily with transparencies - either as a background or a large transparency overlay. And we really don't want to see just a teeny transparency on the page either.

2) The title of your layout has to be a song title/lyrics. And we want to see journaling. Please make sure to type out your journaling when uploading your layout.

Thanks to my good friend Jen for getting me something transparent to scrap on - now just to get an idea. I'm getting a headache from thinking up ideas!! Calgon - take me awaaaay!!!!

Trends

So, I was organizing my digital copies of my layouts by year - and I noticed that recently - I've gone to mainly white backgrounds on my layouts. When did I become more comfortable with that - and why? Was I following a trend? Did I become afraid of color and patterns?

I can't say why I made the change - but it is interesting to go back and look. I also uploaded all my old layouts that I could find on the computer onto flickr and sorted them by year. I'm sorry to say that I can't give correct credit to sketches and scraplifts on the majority of them - so I'll just say I'm sorry ahead of time to anyone who's sketch I used or who I scraplifted and didn't retain the information on my hard drive. At the time most of these were made I was strictly at one site - and when I resigned from there it created a major brouhaha that resulted in me losing my gallery and all my information. So, now I have a flickr account and will be able to retain all that info in the future!

PS - I added a flickr badge to my sidebar - so if you are curious - you can check out my scrapping :)

I am a scrap-stalker.....sorta

Well I would be - if Jen weren't already my friend :) But fortunately for me - she is my friend - so I don't have to resort to stalking her.

I did a couple of scraplifts of Jen's layouts the other day. Not sure how well I did at lifting them - cause Jen has an effortless style and awesome handwriting - which I posses neither of.

But the photos are done - and my admiration for Jen's scrapping is now documented - so all's well ;)

this is a lift of Jen's Cold Pink Nose layout.
