30 in 30 Layout Challenge

Jen came up with this awesome challenge to play during September at Scrap Shanty

Anyone interested in a little challenge? There are 30 days in September and I know I am in the need for a little push to get a bunch of layouts done. Back in January some of us did the Big Picture Scrapbooking's Layout a Day challenge and they didn't have specific challenges besides doing ONE LAYOUT A DAY!!

Who wants to try it? Starting tomorrow I will post a thread and just post your layout in the gallery and then link it in the thread. No prizes here just bragging rights for the month of October!!!

Come on fellow scrappers -- let's get scrappin!!

and I made the blinkie. Hope you play along with us - and feel free to use the blinkie!!

Brett getting slammed

Here is a video of Brett getting layed out by one of the players on the older team - the funny thing is that Brett is no where near the ball or the play and this kid just beelines right to him and after he knocks him flat - he turns and looks for his next victim. (Brett was not harmed in the making of this video) Brett is the one in the grey sweatshirt on the left side of the field.

How did the Milk pour?

Some of you asked how the milk in the weird jug poured . We opened it - and well - it has a wide mouth, so it pours quick - and it is taller than a regular milk jug - so harder for the little ones to pour. I'm not real impressed.

Weird

I went to Costco today and bought milk - and this is what the jug looked like

Weird eh? I've yet to open it - but I'm not too sure how it will pour. So I'm reserving judgement - but my first impression was not favorable.

The Joy of Creating!

We've been so busy with football, cheer and getting ready for school that I just haven't had a chance to be creative. I was playing in the SOSL Challenge at Scrap Love and I wasn't able to get my Week #4 challenge finished - so I've had to drop out - but they gave us a Second Chance contest so I had to finish the missed challenge and get my other challenges in on time. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it, but I managed it - yeah me!

Overwhelmed

I just wanna cry - I'm so overwhelmed right now. Brett wanted to play football and when I found out it was a 4 night a week committment, plus game days - I was less than thrilled - but he is doing so well with it and it has been such a confidence builder for him - that I sucked it up.

Well Emma is in Cheer/Pom - and I was so glad that practices were at the same place and time as football. We had to be there anyway - so woohoo!

We are off on Thursdays from Football - and I just got an email from the Cheer/Pom coach that practices are now on Thursdays. So that means that me and both kids have to be at the field 5 nights a week for 2 hours. Just the thought of it makes me and I just want to put my head down and cry.

And before you give me advice on what to do to occupy those 2 hours during practice or tell me to enjoy it because soon the kids will be gone, let me clarify it isn't the fact that we have practice that is overwhelming me - it is the fact that I had counted on that one free night per week - and now that has been taken away. I'll adjust - but I just wanted to vent.

My little cheerleader

Emma went to her first cheer practice today. She is so happy that they finally found a cheer coach and I'm so happy that practices are the same days and at the same place as Brett's football practice. 4 nights a week is plenty of time spent at the field :)

Isn't she cute??

First day of real practice

Well today was Brett's first practice with all his gear.  I was really surprised to find that he looked smaller to me with all the gear on instead of bigger.

First day of Football Practice

Well, today was the first day of Football practice. And it was HOT. Brett doesn't have his equipment yet, so he wasn't as hot as the kids in their helmets. But still - many water breaks and pouring water over the head.

Brett is doing really well - better than I thought he would - he's staying tough. I'm very proud of him.

So much fun!

Well the cabin at the KOA is awesome and we are right across from the pool and hot tub. The kids are pruned from spending so much time in the water. It was so relaxing to just lay by the pool and read. They served lunch right at the pool - so we didn't even have to leave to eat - wicked!!

Yesterday at Enchanted Forest was a blast. The kids really got along well and enjoyed everything to the fullest. We even attended the play Cinderella - and it was freakin' hilarious. I'd definitely go to the plays again - didn't even know they did them.

Carrie was so funny at the Haunted House - she screamed really loud right after the door banged shut when we entered. But from there on - we were mainly laughing hysterically.

We did out traditional photo op with Abe Lincoln

and here is a slide that Carrie talked me into going down - if you look closely you can probably see the skin I left behind

I got completely soaked on the Log Ride - and the kids really enjoyed the Bobsled type ride. Great fun day!!

8*8*08

Happy 56th birthday to my sister Janet! We are heading out this morning to meet up with her and Serene at the Salem KOA and go to Enchanted Forest . My friend Carrie and her girls are going to meet up with us there too. Check back for pictures.

No more tangles!

Emma has the WORST hair for tangles. We have tried everything to help detangle it and make it easier to brush. My hairdresser even tried her super secret detangles everything forumula that she makes - and it wouldn't touch it. Emma hates having her hair brush and runs and hides if you come towards her with a brush. Her solution is to just pull the rats nest back into a scrunchie. I finally tired of my daughter looking like a street urchin and took her in to get it cut.

Here is Emma is last week at breakfast and you can sorta see her snarly hair

and here she is with her new cute cut - Carrie thinks it is a bit Dorothy Hamiltonish - guess this is the perfect time for an "Olympic" cut ha ha. I'm just thankful that it will be tons easier to take care of and I won't have to chase her around with a hairbrush!

Conditioning Camp part 1

Well, today was the first day of conditioning camp. And it was 82 degrees outside and the football field has no shade! It was very toasty. Nice thing though - they do have a concession stand that runs and has ice cream and cold stuff - woohoo!!

Here is a few pics of my little football dude! He did so good through all the drill stations - I was really proud of how hard he worked and that he didn't wimp out! He wanted to get to the tackle station so badly, and he was at the station next to it - when practice ended. So hopefully tomorrow he'll get to tackle!!

August 05, 2008

What have I gotten myself into?

Brett wants to play football - so we signed him up for PeeWee Football. Got the call about conditioning camp last night - it's all this week from 5:30 - 7:30 and then practices start on Monday from 5:30 - ?? on Mon., Tues., Wed., & Thurs with games on Saturdays! Yikes! Looks like we will be eating, sleeping and breathing football around here. So, if my scrapping and blogging slows to a trickle again - you'll know why!

Making Memories
I bought an MM Paper Trimmer awhile back - and the little red piece broke off of it. One email to MM - and they sent me a replacement part - and some goodies for my time! Your customer service rocks MM!!

Seems to me that customer service is a dying art these days, these 2 companies haven't lost it though! So, share with me some customer service stories - good or bad!

I broke my tooth.

Dang it! I was eating and felt something weird - like I'd gotten a chip caught in my gum or tooth. So tried to get it out with a toothpick - didn't happen. Gave up - finished eating - still feeling that weird feeling. Later I felt my tooth - cause it was still bugging me - and I have cracked the tooth. Yikes!

I have a call into the dentist - to see when he can get me in to fix it up. Sigh - expensive sandwich!

SOSL Week 3

Here is what I came up with for Week 3 of the SOSL challenge at Scrap Love. Somebody should have stopped me before I got the stickles out I think. Sigh. Oh well - I still like the overall design of it - and I put a lot of thought and planning into it. I know I'll never be chosen in the Top 3 during any week of voting - there is amazing talent in the contest - but it is fun to stretch my scrapping abilities anyway.

Wordle

I created a Wordle from the RSS feed here on my blog and this is what I ended up with. I didn't play around with fonts and colors - think it came up kinda cool!
